Jiya Ra

Track Notes

Track Released on 23 July 2011
Jiya Ra was born out of the love for Rain. The track was composed almost 3 years back.

The riff on the santoor was created first which set the tone of the song, and Preeti penned down the lyrics on the fly and improvised the tune as we wrapped up the song in under an hour.

Charan was roped in as recently as last week, after layering the track sonically I asked him to jam with the track, gave him a few words and he added this classic sheen of Hindustani elements which made the track complete.

Alok on Guitars, Shriram on Flute transcended this track into a zone that Prashant will cherish for life.

Harami Bandah

Track Notes
Track Released on 01 August 2011
A leftover from the long list of Shaitan scratches, Harami Bandah brings back retro electropop. The song is a heavy duty retro meets pop meets hip-hop meets electro.

The track was a playing field for Charan who has done the additional programming for the track. I wanted to retain the electro-retro feel and the soundscape was meticulously designed.

Heavily inspired by electonica/electro  musicians BT, edIT, Moby and Chemical Brothers, this track will rust in your head..watchout!

The Lost Cloud

Track Notes
Track Released on 08 August 2011

The lost Cloud of rain was born out of an impromptu jammin session with Guitarist Alok Kulkarni. A template was created with keywords of loneliness, sadness, subtle joy, rain, dark clouds and so on. Alok got the feel right and recorded and layered guitars one over the other creating a unique blend of unusual tones and rhythm.

Shriram jammed in with his metal flute and the Chinese Dizzy with strong western classical riffs, transcending the track into a joyous zone.

Later I also recorded Preeti with a portion of a carnatic krithi which is soundscaped in a way to emulate a old radio being tuned, that adds to the whole sublimed journey that this track takes you through.

Alok came into this recording session just a day after he was blessed with a baby boy and maybe thats the reason there’s a lost soul in the track just like that lost cloud hovering sprinkling some happiness before its head to join its gang !

Tansen's Weather Report

Track Notes
Track Released on 16 August 2011
This track was heavily inspired by Black Eyed Peas initially, some of the elements of which has been retained. The track starts of with this Rajasthani folk vocals and then takes you into a mystic journey, filled with noise, love, monuments, food and more.

The track seemed perfect for Shriram’s flute solo for its sheer energy. Shriram a gifted player known for his perfection and impromptu sessions had a ball recording this. Honestly we did struggle to get the first riff righ, then there was no stopping him. I love the bit where he plays this Carnatic Krithi which comes out of nowhere and then goes back into the Rajasthani roots seamlessly.

Have a great time listening to this journey track !
